How to Incorporate Music into your Tiny Space

A great way to decorate your bare walls is by using old records that you can either find in your basement, attic, or local thrift shops. This is such a unique and fun way to decorate your walls, especially if you’re a music enthusiast.

This simple DIY project can be executed in several fashions. It really depends on what kind of atheistic you’re going for.

The first way of decorating your walls with records can simply be putting up the record itself. This can be executed by securing the record with a command strip on your wall. In my room at home, I even did this because I just loved the way it looked. It filled up some blank space without making it look too cluttered. My suggestion would be to stagger the records, so it makes a lightning bolt shape almost. This will give the wall and room some dimension. The center of the record will be colorful so be mindful of that and plan which colors you want next to each other.

SIDE TIP: SAVE YOUR COMMAND HOOKS! When you’re taking down command hooks make sure you save them in a Ziplock bag. They can be reused throughout the years and will save you a lot of money because they can become quite expensive.

Another way you can use records as decoration is painting on it. This can be a super fun activity for you and your friends to do. Grab some relatively nice paint and some old records to get started. I would suggest looking on Pinterest for some ideas if you’re hitting a brain block. Painting on records can give your room more personalization because it’s something you personally created. It has meaning, and if you do it with friends it holds memories within them. Paint literally whatever you want on them! Go Nuts!

Display your record player and records in your room if you own some. This may be tricky in a smaller space, but if you utilize it enough, it is worth making the room for it. Place it on your desk or even hang a self of sorts where you can display your musical records for everyone to see. There is something truly special about owning a record because you have that music with you forever. It doesn’t just go away like it does when you forget to pay your Spotify subscription.
